Other Countries Began Banning Whaling After World War II
A slogan adopted after the abolishment of whaling
After the Second World War, countries began to completely ban whaling, as dwindling populations were on the brink of extinction. New England's hayday in the whaling industry ended in 1927, when New Bedford sent out the last whaling ship in American history, the John R. Mantra.
America, lead by New England states, picked up its effort to save whales and as a result, much of the whale species that were on the brink of extinction have been saved and are now flourishing.
